Norbert C. Graves, 79, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away at 10:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 in his home.  Norbert was born on May 7, 1938 in LaPorte, Indiana to Walter and Sybil (Huffman) Graves, and was a lifelong area resident.  He retired in 1998 from the Asbestos Workers Local #75.  On July 26, 1969 in the New Carlisle Community Church, he married  Barbara L. Schrader, who survives.  Norbert is also survived by his son, Michael (Rhonda) Graves of LaPorte, Indiana; and two grandchildren, Emily and Ty Graves.  He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Sybil Graves; his daughter, Nicole Graves-Gerolium; and his sister, Gail Curl.  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. E.S.T. Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in the New Carlisle Community Church.  Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. E.S.T. Tuesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana.  A visitation will also take place from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. E.S.T. Wednesday  in the New Carlisle Community Church.  Norbert was a 1956 graduate of New Carlisle High school. He was  member of the New Carlisle Community Church, serving as Past Chairman of the Church Board, Trustee of the Church, and a Life Elder.  He was also a member of the Terre Coupee Lodge #204  F & AM Masons and the  Mill Creek Arbor of the Gleaners. Norbert was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #297.  He loved his community  and served for 30 years on the New Carlisle Cemetery Board, many of those as Chairman.  Memorial Contributions may be directed to the New Carlisle Community Church.  To send online condolences, please visit kaniewski.com
