Michael R. Hollars

Michael R. Hollars, 58, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 5:51 a.m.           Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in Memorial Hospital.  Michael was born on May 29, 1959 in South Bend to Clyde Hollars, Jr. and Meri Kay (Kucharski) Hollars.  He retired on September 30, 2012 from AM General, where he was employed for 33 years.  On September 21, 2001, in South Bend, he married Carmel L. McNamara (Fanin), who survives.  Michael is also survived by his mother, Meri Kay Bauer of South Bend, Indiana; one daughter, Stefanie (Anthony) Peffley of Sidney, Ohio; five sons, Garland (Abbey) Doxie, Andrew (Krystal) Fanin, Matthew (Amber) Wlodarek, Steven (Mercedes) Fanin, and Derick (Katie) Vigansky all of South Bend, Indiana; sixteen grandchildren; two sisters, Charlene (Roger Johnson) Hollars of Sun City Center, Florida and Judie (Dan) Ruffner of Granger, Indiana; seven brothers, Clyde Hollars of Mishawaka, Indiana, Robert Hollars of Cassopolis, Michigan, Randy (Pat) Hollars of South Bend, Indiana, David Hollars of Cassopolis, Michigan, Terry (Angie) Hollars of South Bend, Indiana, Larry (Laura) Hollars of Elkhart, Indiana and Steven (Robin) Hollars of South Bend, Indiana; and by several nieces and nephews.  Michael was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Hollars, Jr.  Funeral Services will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive.  A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.   Michael was a 1978 graduate of Clay High School. He was a  member of the UAW Local 5.
