Michael Jean "Micky" Levy Obituary

Michael Jean “Micky” Levy of Union Mills, passed away peacefully On December 8, 2018 at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville, Indiana. From her birth in Coffeyville, Kansas on October 31, 1933, to her death on Saturday, she filled those around her with laughter, friendship, and unconditional love. In 1969, she married Lawrence “Larry” Levy, who preceded her in death.  In 1998, she moved to Indiana, from Medina, Ohio, to reconnect with an old love, Leonard “Mac” McGowen, who proceeded her in death in 2011.

Although Micky did not have any children, she loved Leonard’s two daughters Becky and Cheryl grandchildren, Stacy, Tina, Ricky II, Christopher, and Megan, and 12 great grandchildren as her own. She was a special addition to the family and she will be greatly missed by all. Micky leaves behind her two stepchildren, Gail and Robert Levy whom she cherished greatly.

Micky worked many different jobs over the years.  She and her late husband Larry owned race horses, in which they traveled around the east coast for races.  She retired as an apartment complex manager, in which she enjoyed connecting with the renters of the units.   Micky was a very comedic person, who loved getting a smile out of everyone.  Her laughter echoed, and her cheerful spirit could always make others happy.   She loved watching old scary movies, Ghost Files, and reading for hours on end. She also thoroughly enjoyed shopping.  She spent many years donating to causes close to her heart, such as the ASPCA, St. Jude’s, and many Catholic charities.

Micky’s family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at the Parkview Haven Retirement home for their attentiveness and loving care.

There will be a graveside service held Thursday, December 13, at noon, CST, at the Union Mills Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers, the family would ask that a donation be made to the LaPorte County Animal Shelter in memory of Micky.
