Kenneth G. Tidey, Sr. 69, of South Bend, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his loving family, Thursday September 28, 2017. He was born on March 19, 1948, in South Bend, to George and Joanne (Rice) Tidey. On October 3, 1969 he married Radene Taberski, who survives. Also surviving are his two sons, Keith (Dawn) and Kenneth, Jr., both of South Bend; his daughter, Rachel Zawistowski of South Bend; his mother, Joanne Haist of Yuma, AZ; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Alexis, Alyssa and MacKenzie Tidey; two brothers, Don (Sharon) Burnell and Chuck (Leah) Tidey; two brothers-in-law, Raymond (Stacie) Taberski and Raynard (Pat) Taberski; nieces and nephews, Randy, Steve, Aaron, Robin, Mindy, Tim, Scott; several other nieces and nephews residing out of state; and cousins from the Erhardt and Tidey families.   Kenneth retired in 2002 from Holland TNT, where he was employed as a truck driver for thirty years. He also was employed with the South Bend School Corporation, where he worked as a bus driver for ten years, retiring in 2013. Kenneth was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran. He was an avid fisherman, loved going to the casino, enjoyed spending time with his dog Dakota, but most of all, he loved his kids and grandkids. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday October 4, 2017 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday October 5, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545-5234. The family wishes to thank the South Bend Fire Department and Memorial Hospital Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit, for their loving care of Kenneth.
