Juanita (Vinson) Griffith

Juanita Griffith, 86, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018 in her home, following an illness.

She was born on March 15, 1931 to the late Earl and Zora (Jacob) Vinson in Hebine, Arkansas, and has lived in South Bend since 1955, coming from Piggott, Arkansas.

On September 28, 1946, as Juanita Vinson, she married Dewey W. “Red” Griffith in Arkansas.  He passed away on June 19, 2006.  Juanita was also preceded in death by three sisters; one brother; and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Griffith.

Juanita is survived by her three daughters, Charlotte (Joe) Barrier of South Bend, IN; Lisa (Dave) Moak of Vacaville, CA; Brenda Matthews of Chandler, AZ; two sons, Wendell Griffith of South Bend, IN; Brian Griffith of South Bend, IN; 13 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, with Pastor Barbara A. Mathews officiating.  Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
