Joyce Marie (Kroll) Engdahl

Joyce Marie Engdahl, 84, of South Bend, Indiana passed away peacefully on November 15, 2018. Joyce was born on May 3, 1934 in South Bend, IN, to the late Joseph and Irene (Kozorowski) Kroll. She attended Holy Cross elementary school and graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1952. Joyce worked at Studebaker, St. Joseph County Board of Health, University of Michigan Hospital, and Cardinal Nursing Home for thirty-one years, as a medical records coordinator, where she retired in 2005. She enjoyed bowling, golf, bridge leagues and being a member of the Red Hat Society. She was formerly married to James A. Engdahl, who preceded her in death. She cherished her children and grandchildren, enjoyed their sporting events, and family gatherings. A special thanks to Dr. Gail English, Heartland Hospice, Center for Hospice Care, and Holy Cross Nursing Home. Joyce is survived by her four children; two daughters, Sandy (George) Village of Sherrills Ford, NC, Pam (Bob) LaManna of Stevensville, MI; two sons, Ken (Jen) Engdahl of Mishawaka, IN, and Mark (Diana) of Granger, IN; five grandchildren, Hayden, Paige, Payton, Josie and Matthew Engdahl; three step-grandchildren, Emily (Corbin) Judstra, Rachel and Grace LaManna; one step-great-granddaughter, Remington Judstra; three brothers, Terry (Marcia) Kroll, Dale Kroll, and the late Ron Kroll. Visitation for Joyce will be on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN, where a rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Joyce’s honor to Christ the King Catholic Church. Online condolence may be left at www.kaniewski.com
