John P. Ehardt

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John P. Ehardt, 89.  John passed away at 3:25 a.m. on November 29, 2018. 

John was born on October 25, 1929 in Oak Park, Illinois to John and Elizabeth Ehardt.   The Ehardt family moved to Baroda, Michigan when John was a young boy.  John was the valedictorian of his high school Class of 1947.  He graduated from Michigan State University with a business degree.   John is a veteran; serving in the United States Army during the Korean War.  

John loved spending time at Lake Michigan and this continued through his whole life.  He met his wife, Frances, at the beach were married in October 1954.  They raised their family in South Bend.  John was the owner of Skystream, Inc. in Plymouth for much of his career.  

John and his wife owned an antique business during their retirement years.  They enjoyed finding their treasures at local estate sales, auctions, and flea markets.  John was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Ehardt in 1983 and his wife, Frances in 2015. 

John is survived by his children, Susan Kisela, Steven Ehardt, Bruce (April) Ehardt, and Beth (Jim) Hurst.  John is also survived by his grandchildren, Joshua Kisela, Ethan Ehardt, and Jamie and Will Hurst.  

Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 4, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend.  A celebration of John's life will be at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
