David Morris, 68, of South Bend, IN, passed away unexpectedly at 6:30 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 at his daughter, Amberlee and son-in-law, Adam Futa’s home.
He was born on March 3, 1950 to the late John David I and Dixie Lee (Hall) Morris in Evansville, IN, and has lived in South Bend since 1988, coming from Boonville, IN.
David retired in September 2011 from Washington High School, where he was an English Teacher for 15 years. David was also a published poet.
On July 16, 1976, he married Fonda F. Huntsman in New Harmony, IN. They married again for a second time on July 16, 2016 in South Bend, IN.
David is survived by his loving wife, Fonda F. Morris of South Bend, IN; his daughter, Amberlee (Adam) Futa of South Bend, IN; one sister, Carla (Steve) Gage of Seneca, SC; and one brother, Kevin (Judy) Morris of South Bend, IN. David is also survived by his grand puppies, Meeko, Kelly Sue, and Stitch; and was preceded in death by his cat, Daisy.
David was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Masonic Grand Lodge #45 in South Bend, IN. David loved playing poker; reading science fiction books and gaming.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Family and friends may also visit from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, with Pastor Brad Davick officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, where Military Honors will be performed.
In lieu of flowers, David’s wishes were for people to donate any school supplies to the South Bend Community Schools, in his memory.
