Joan M. Toothman "Goat Lady"

Joan M. Toothman “Goat Lady” 82, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away at 6:34 p.m. Thursday,  June 22, 2017 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, Indiana. Joan was born on December 21, 1934 in LaPorte, Indiana to  Willard and Erna (Kanney) Pagel.  She had been a loving “Farm Wife”.  On May 28, 1955, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend, Indiana she married Lawrence W. Toothman who preceded her in death in September 2003. She was also preceded in death by her son Michael Toothman; granddaughter Amanda Toothman; great- grandson Deonta Horst; and her brother Ralph Pagel.  Joan is survived by two daughters Connie (Phil) Horst of Walkerton, Indiana, and Debi (David) Roberson of Tomball, Texas; one son Mark (Michelle) Toothman of LaPorte, Indiana; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, her sister Lois Markham of Elkhart, Indiana; and her brother Richard (Janet) Pagel of Prescott Valley, Arizona.  Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. E.S.T. Monday, July 3, 2017, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, Indiana.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.  A visitation will take place from 12:00 Noon, E.S.T. to 1:45 p.m. E.S.T.
