Janiece J. Moore Obituary

Janiece J. Moore, 85, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Wednesday August 1, 2018. She was born on August 21, 1932 in Lawrence, Kansas to the late Vernon and Virginia (King) Street. On April 5, 1952 she married Gene E. Moore who survives and was the love of her life. They shared an amazing life of love, engaged only two weeks after meeting and marrying 4 months later.  She was a Navy wife for 20 years, raised 5 children all while traveling the country as a Military wife and doing so much on her own as Gene was deployed, living in Hawaii for 8 years of this 20. After retiring from the service, they moved back to New Carlisle and Janiece worked at the United States Post Office.  After retirement her and Gene toured the country in a motor home, traveled internationally and then settled in Arizona for 27 years enjoying tennis, golf, bridge and dancing.  The jitterbug was their dance of choice. Her sense of humor kept us all laughing and we have so many funny stories to remember her telling.  She was definitely the life of the party.  Janiece and Gene’s love story endured for 66 years. Nobody was a stranger to Janiece, you were given a smile and if you were visiting, you had food and a drink in your hand before you could even sit down.  Not only did she make a lasting impact on friends but her family will cherish every memory.

She is also survived by four daughters: Susan (Charles Burns) Moore of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Terry (Bob) O’Donnell of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kimber (Jeff) Michels of Mishawaka, Indiana and Jennifer Moore of South Bend, Indiana; one son Steven (Cindy) Moore of South Bend, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Vernon (Margaret) O’Donnell, Kevin (Erin) O’Donnell, Ava (Luke Goodman) Burns, Rae Burns, Andrea (Ryan) Meyer, Allison Moore, Nathan Lake (Kate Stephens), Dustin Lake (Kaila and Lilian Spencer) Ryan (Jamena) Lake, Kristin (Jonathan) Levendoski and Justin (Ashley) Michels; thirteen great grandchildren and one more (Lincoln) on the way: Ryder, Ryese, Norah, Clark, Amelia, Everett, Adam, Whitman, Cain, Blair, Asher, Langston, and Finnegan. Janiece was also pre deceased by one sister Annabelle Parry who she missed and loved dearly along with Annie’s children Debbie, Richard and Jeff.

She was a 1950 graduate of New Carlisle High School. She was a longtime member of the Litchfield Park Church in Arizona and a former member of Pebble Creek Golf and Tennis Club. Janiece was an avid bridge player and organized many bridge clubs wherever she went. Janiece has donated her body to the Indiana University Anatomical Donation Society. A visitation will be held on Sunday August 5, 2018 from 12:00 until 2:00 pm in the Kaniewski Funeral Home 3545 N. Bendix Dr, South Bend, Indiana.
