James E. Walbert

James E. “Jim” Walbert, 67, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 11:36 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN, following an illness.

He was born on June 11, 1951 to the late Frank and Pearl (Graczek) Walbert in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident of New Carlisle, IN.   Along with his parents; a son, James Cody Walbert preceded him in death on November 26, 2006.

Jim was currently employed by Old Dominion Freightline, where he was a Truck Driver for the last 20 years.  Prior to that, he worked at the Bendix Corporation. 

On May 2, 1981, Jim married Cathi M. Franks at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in New Carlisle, IN.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Cathi M. Walbert of New Carlisle, IN; two daughters, Tori (Travis) Baird of Granger, IN; Jamie (Derik Williamson) Walbert of New Carlisle, IN; eight grandchildren, two brothers, Ben (Kerry) Walbert of Walkerton, IN; Raymond (Sharon) Walbert of Granger, IN; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Mary Lee Franks of South Bend, IN.

Jim was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish in New Carlisle, IN; and was a graduate of New Carlisle High School.  Jim enjoyed collecting John Deere Toy Tractors.  

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, IN and also from 9-10 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2018 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, 55756 Tulip Road, New Carlisle, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2018 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, New Carlisle, IN, with Rev. Paul McCarthy officiating.  Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery.
