Helen Eunice Dillon Banas

Helen Eunice Dillon Banas, 68, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 9:42 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Wellbrooke of South Bend.  Helen was born on July 3, 1949 in Jacksonville, Florida to Ernest L. Dillon and Helen Eunice (Jackson) Dillon. She spent her childhood in Indianapolis, a 1967 graduate of Thomas Carr Howe High School, after graduating Purdue with a degree in Textile Technology, moved to New Jersey where she met her husband. On April 24, 1976, in the Irvington Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, Indiana, she married Victor E. Banas, now a Bendix/Honeywell retiree, who survives. They moved to South Bend just in time for the “Blizzard of ‘78”. They have lived in South Bend for 40 years.  Helen retired in 2014 from Koontz Wagner, where she was employed as an Electrical Draftswoman for 27 years.   She is also survived by her sister, Mary (John) Sangsland of Hesperia, Michigan; and her niece, Stacy Sangsland of Charlevoix, Michigan.  A visitation will be held from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive.  Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Helen was very active member of the First United Methodist Church of South Bend.  She was very artistic and enjoyed painting and drawing.  Memorial Contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church at 333 N.
