Frank E. Foy of Wheeling, IL (formerly of South Bend) passed away Wednesday January 9, 2019. He was born on June 25, 1920, in Kokomo, IN, to the late Urban and Mertie (Hand) Foy. On May 31, 1941 he married Mary E. Lawrence, who preceded him in death on March 22, 2012. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Thomas, Robert and Ernest Foy and a son-in-law, Robert Taghon. Frank is survived by his daughter, Diane Taghon of Wheeling, IL, his son, Craig (Deborah) Foy of Granger, IN; seven grandchildren, David (Peggy McKay) Taghon, Jacqie (Brian) Wilk, Jon (Vicky) Taghon, Lisa (Jerry) Oakes, Brian Foy, Ashley (James) Packee and Michael Foy; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Frank worked in Engineering for Tyler Refrigeration in Niles, MI for 23 years, before retiring in 1984. He was a WWII Army Air Force Veteran. Frank and his wife Mary were the owners of Foy's Tastee Freeze. Frank was a loving husband, he and Mary celebrated 70 years of marriage. Frank was also a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. He was always there to support his family's activities, even in the pouring rain and subzero temperatures . He was a big Notre Dame fan and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday January 12, 2019 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with burial to take place at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park immediately following.
