Eugene J. Sheeley

 
Eugene J. Sheeley, 97, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away on Saturday May 18, 2019 at Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.  He was born in New Carlisle, IN, to the late Glenn and Jesse (McCallister) Sheeley and was a lifelong area resident.  On March 31, 1946, he married Pauline R. Nagel, who preceded him in death on July 9, 2017.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Clara Ann Thompson and a brother, Edward Sheeley.  Survivors include his daughter, Diane Prestin of New Carlisle, his son, Gary Kyrz-Sheeley of Indianapolis, IN; four grandchildren, Shaun (Cindy) Prestin, Brandon (Jen) Prestin, Catherine (Cory) Kegeris and Glenn Kyzr-Sheeley; and by four great-grandchildren, Kelsey (Jordan) Jasinski, Brooke Prestin, Isla Prestin and Pippa Kegeris.  Mr. Sheeley worked at City Pattern in South Bend, as a metal pattern maker.  He was United States Marine Corp Veteran, a member of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church, New Carlisle and enjoyed woodworking.  A visitation will be held from 11 to 1 p.m. EST Thursday May 23, 2019 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St., New Carlisle.  Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.  Burial services will conclude at New Carlisle Cemetery, where full military honors will be conducted.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.  To send online condolences, please visit www.kaniewski.com.
