Elsie C. Cooreman, 101, born Christmas Day 1917, died Monday December 31, 2018 at Hamilton Grove Assisted Living Unit, New Carlisle, IN.
On June 22, 1940, she married Paul M. Cooreman and was his hard-working farm partner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her parents Achiel and Eugenia Truyaert, her sister Mary Claeys, brother Ivan Truyaert, grandson Rick Coppens, nephew Dennis Landuyt, and nieces Becky Landuyt, Eileen Claeys and Carol Ann Zemrowski.
Elsie is survived by her son Jim Cooreman (Joan), daughter Judy Smith (Bryan), grandchildren John Cooreman of Michigan City, Jeff Cooreman of New Carlisle, Bryon Coppens of Cincinnati, great-grandson Seth Coppens of Juneau, AK, and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church and its Women's Rosary Society.
For 50 years, Elsie bowled at Black Cat Lanes which brought her many joyful memories and great friendships. Fishing was another activity she very much enjoyed. Elsie's life blessed countless people with her big heart, great humor and devotion to family, friends and community.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. (EST) Friday, Jan. 4, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 North Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. (EST) Saturday, Jan. 5, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Terre Coupee with Father Paul McCarthy officiating. Burial service will follow at New Carlisle Cemetery.
