Dorothy L. Remley, 87, of South Bend, passed away on Wednesday July 18, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on March 12, 1931, in South Bend, to the late Joseph W. and Helen (Fenton) Kuczwara. On May 26, 1951, as Dorothy Kuczwara, she married Robert P. Remley , who preceded her in death on April 26, 1977. Dorothy is survived by her son, David P. (Michelle) Remley of South Bend; three grandchildren, Christopher D. Remley, Michael R. (Michelle) Remley, both of South Bend and Katherine M. (Michael) McHale of Temple, TX; five great-grandchildren, Cecilia Jane Remley, Thomas David Remley, Christina Marie McHale, John Michael McHale and Rose Bernadette McHale; a sister, Veronica (Henry) Locsmondy of South Bend; two brothers, Jordan T. (Kathy) Kuczwara of Neenah, WI and Joseph W. (Linda) Kuczwara of Louisville, KY; and by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Craft-Nellans and her husbands, Ernest Craft and Edward Nellans. Dorothy worked in Accounts Receivable for Indiana Cab Company for five years, Hertz Rent a Car for 18 years and Honeywell for 18 years, before retiring on April 1, 1996. She was a Parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, where she was a member of the choir and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Chopin Fine Arts Club, St. Stanislaus Harvest House and the Bendix Salaried Retirees Club. She was a Hospice office volunteer. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday July 23, 2018 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday July 24, 2018 at Holy Family Church, 56405 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend, where friends may visit for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church or the Hospice Foundation. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Wellbrooke for the past 17 months of excellent care and to the Memorial Hospital ICU staff, especially her ICU nurse Becca for her compassion.
