DeVon Jesswein

DeVon Jesswein, 86, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away at 9:07 p.m. Saturday October 28, 2017, in Hospice House, South Bend, Indiana.  DeVon was born on April 3, 1931 in New Carlisle to Ervin and Lois (House) Jesswein and was a lifelong resident.  He was a self-employed farmer.  On September 30, 1950 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, LaPorte, Indiana, he married Carol Huge, who survives.  He is also survived by his daughter, Sandra (Kenneth) Kleine of New Carlisle, Indiana; two sons, David (Lisa) Jesswein and Dale Jesswein both of New Carlisle, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Kim (Greg), Justin (Kari), Aaron (Erica), Corey (Katie), Erica (Jordan), Julie (Glen) and Jeff; and nine great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Lois Jesswein; and his  brother, Larry Jesswein.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.  DeVon was a member of the Lydick United Methodist Church; a former board member for fifteen years for the St. Joseph County 4H Fair, Inc.; and a former member of the FSA board. He was a Bus Driver for the South Bend Community School Corporation for 40 years.
