David J. Butiste

David J. Butiste, 66, of South Bend, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday December 2, 2017 in his home. He was born on October 20, 1951, in South Bend, to the late Frank and Maxine (Stuart) Butiste. He was preceded in death by his son, John Butiste, a brother Michael Butiste and a brother in law Charles Fenner. David is survived by his three sisters, Toni Butiste-Fenner, Diane (Dennis) Chrzan and Mary (Bruce) Butiste-Jones, all of South Bend; two brothers, Frank (Sharon) Butiste of South Bend and Stephen (Cathy) Butiste of LaPorte, IN; and by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. David worked as a banker for 1st Source Bank, NBD, Midwest Commerce and St. Joseph Bank before retiring in 2015, after 40 years in banking. He was a lifetime west sider and a 1969 graduate of Washington High School and attended IUSB. He played little league and softball on the west side and enjoyed traveling with his son, and his annual fishing trip to Canada. He also enjoyed buying and selling cars. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday December 7, 2017 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday December 8, 2017 at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, with burial to conclude in Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
