V. Jene Forbes Landy

V. Jene Forbes Landy, 84, of South Bend, Indiana passed away 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2017 in Morningside Memory Care.

She was born on April 9, 1933 to the late George and Susie (Armstrong) Forbes in Herrin, Illinois, and had lived in South Bend since 1950, coming from Herrin. 

Mrs. Landy worked from American Greetings for 10 years.

On March 17, 1951, as V. Jene Forbes, she married Joseph B. Landy, Jr., the love of her life, who preceded her in death on August 3, 2013.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Susie Forbes; her son, Bruce Landy; and her sister, Chris Mosko.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Rich) Fairchild of Osceola, Indiana; two grandchildren, Tracie Lehman and Brian Fairchild; five great grandchildren, Kain Fairchild, Sydney Lehman, Max Lehman, Kegan Lehman and Matthew Seal; and her nephew, Larry Mosko of Chicago, Illinois.

Mrs. Landy was a charter member of the Brethren Church Prince of Peace; Loyal Order of The Moose Lodge #58; Women’s Auxiliary of the Moose Lodge #58; AKAWAHSIM camping club; and the Avian Companions of the Midwest.

She was a 1951 graduate of Mishawaka High School and was a member of the Mishawaka High School Alumni Association. 

She loved animals.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2018 in the funeral home, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
