Timothy J. Lies, Sr.

Tim Lies, Sr., 64, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at his home. Tim was born on June 30, 1953 in South Bend, Indiana to Charles and Charlotte (Kleinert) Lies, and was a lifelong resident. He is survived by two brothers, Larry (Terri) Lies of Granger, Indiana, and David (Mona) Lies of Indianapolis, Indiana.

On June 21, 1974, Tim married the love of his life, and his best friend, Susan Scheid, who survives. Together they built an amazing life together that centered around their three daughters, Danielle (Chad) Stutsman of Goshen, Indiana, Jennifer (Bill) Wagnerowski of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Corrine (Brian) Lorenc of Berrien Center, Michigan; and one son, Timothy (Rebecca) Lies, Jr. of Osceola, Indiana. But, the lights of Tim’s life were his eleven grandchildren, Mackayla, Sydney, Kaydence, Coltyn, Gradyn, Charley, Maxwell, Lincoln, Jackson, Willow, and Elliot.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lies.

Though Tim was employed as an applications engineer, he was much more than that. His family lovingly nicknamed him a Do It Yourself (DIY) Extraordinaire, he could fix or build anything. His passion, however, was for the outdoors. He loved hiking and camping. Tim believed that if you couldn’t see his campfire from outer space, it wasn’t big enough.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will take place at 6:30 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the American Legion Post 357, 5414 W. Sample St, South Bend, Indiana. This will be a casual affair. Mackayla, his eldest grandchild, said it best, “Grandpa was happiest when he was dressed comfortably, reclined in his chair, sharing a bowl of popcorn with his grandkids.”
