Thelma Jean (Burks) Harmon

Thelma Jean Harmon, 80, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away on Monday August 14, 2017 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. 

She was born on November 5, 1936, in Bradford, TN, to the late Charles, Sr. and Mettie (Parr) Burks.  She was also preceded in death by husbands, J.C. LeSure and Vernon Harmon; four sisters, Susie Tidwell, Gladys Burks, Martha Burks, and Ida Howard; and by three brothers, Cecil Burks, Charles Burks, Jr. and Billy Burks. 

Thelma worked as a Supervisor and Superintendent in Manufacturing Management at AM General Corporation for 32 years, before retiring in 2001.

She leaves behind a son, Curtis Eugene (Sheila) LeSure of Mishawaka, IN; two daughters, Tchrina “Trina” (Curtis Munlin I) of Mishawaka, IN; Revena Harmon of South Bend, IN; nine grandchildren, Michael A. LeSure, Tomala Allen, Christopher Williams, Curtis Munlin II, Christan Shelton, Laurisa LeSure, Catrina LeSure, Curtis LeSure II and Stephen LeSure; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a sister, Wilma (Willie) Wilson of Grandview, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends. 

 A Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Friday August 18, 2017, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.

Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 p.m. Friday, with Elder James Arnett and Pastor Earl Baldwin officiating.  Burial will take place immediately following in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
