Sharon R. Demi

Sharon R. Demi, 54, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, following a valiant 21 month battle with cancer.  She was born on September 23, 1963 in South Bend to Charles and Elaine (Blacharski) Demi. Sharon had lived in South Bend most of her life.  She had been residing in Clearwater, Florida from 2004 -2014.   Sharon was a Certified Physical Therapist and had been employed in  South Bend, Elkhart, and Clearwater, Florida.  She is survived by her longtime partner, Christopher Pinkerton; her sister, Diane (Dennis) Glick of South Bend, Indiana; her niece, Rebecca (Keith) Thompson of San Diego, California; her nephew, Denny (Jordan) Glick of Mishawaka, Indiana; three great-nieces, Hailee Glick, Marissa Glick, and Shelby Thompson; two great-nephews, Dylan Glick and Gavin Thompson; her cousins, Julie Stachowicz of Sacremento, California, John Stachowicz of New York City, and Edward Stachowicz of Lafayette, Indiana; and several other cousins spread out across five states. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elaine Demi; her step-father, Donald Walkowiak; several aunts and uncles; and her two special pets, Bosco and Hot Dog.  A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 21, 2018 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive.  A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.  Sharon was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Parish and had attended St. John the Baptist Grade School.  She was a 1982 graduate of LaSalle High School and received her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Ball State University.  Sharon loved animals and was involved with pet rescue in South Bend.  Memorial Contributions may be directed to RiverBend Cancer Services or Pet Refuge.
