R. Joan Hill

R. Joan Hill, 85, of Elkhart, IN, passed away on Monday February 5, 2018 in her daughter's home.  She was born on September 29, 1932, in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Horace and Dulcie (Crawford) Dawson.  On May 10, 1953, as R. Joan Dawson, she married Jack Hill, who preceded her in death on August 22, 1996.  She was also preceded in death by a grandchild.  Joan is survived by her daughter, Linda (Jim) Lauer of Elkhart; two sons, David (Teri) Hill of Carthage, MO and Larry (Leslie) Hill of Port Clinton, OH; 9 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Hill worked as a nurse for Memorial Hospital before retiring in 1993.  She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, South Bend and was a graduate of Ball State where she received a B.A. in Nursing.   A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday February 12, 2018 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home.  A funeral service for Joan will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday February 13, 2018 in the funeral home, burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend.  Memorial contributions may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church or Memorial Hospital.  To  send online condolences, please visit www.kaniewki.com
