Phillip R. Harris, Sr., 85, of South Bend, passed away on Thursday November 2, 2017 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.  He was born on February 14, 1932, in Plymouth, IN, to the late Harry Sr. and Juanita (Reese) Harris.  On December 29, 1967 he married Eleanor Claflin, who preceded him in death on December 6, 2007.  He is survived by his three children, Phillip Harris, Jr. of Alexandria, VA, Kimberly (Jan Foxworthy) Harris of Crawfordsville, IN and Patricia (Michael) Biggs of South Bend; two grandchildren, Brianne (Eric) Mahone and Adam (Shayna) Biggs, both of South Bend; and by one great-grandson, Liam Mahone.  Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby and Mary and two brothers, Harry Jr. and Robert Harris.  Mr. Harris worked as a Millwright for Bethlehem Steel for over 30 years, before retiring in 1994.  He was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict, an avid euchre player, loved horse racing and bred race horses, a Notre Dame Women’s Basketball fan and enjoyed fishing with his brother and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.  There wasn’t a home project he wouldn’t attempt or help his neighbor with.  He had a very gregarious personality and also loved dining out with friends and family, a very loyal friend.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday November 6, 2017 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend.  Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday November 7, 2017, in the funeral home, with burial to follow in Highland Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 900 W.
