Michael John Quinn

Michael John Quinn, 73, of South Bend, IN, passed away unexpectedly at 8:01 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN.

He was born on October 3, 1944 to the late Leo and Freida (Gable) Quinn in Tunnelton, WV, and has lived in South Bend most of his life.  Along with his parents; he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Francis Quinn.

Michael retired in 2006 from Whiteford Trucking Company in South Bend, IN, after several years.  Prior to that, he worked at Kotz John Deer Tractor Sales in South Bend.

On July 23, 1981, he married Stella H. (Klimek) in Niles, MI.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Stella H. Quinn of South Bend, IN; his son, Michael E. Quinn of Elkhart, IN; stepdaughter, Cindy Fitzgerald of New Carlisle, IN; stepson, Steve Fitzgerald of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jim Quinn of Falling Water, WV; and Patrick Quinn of Upper Sandusky, OH.

Michael was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #8972 in Bremen, IN, where a served as Past President.   Michael loved visiting the casinos and enjoyed playing card games, especially Poker, with his friends.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.

A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018 in Kaniewski Funeral Home Chapel, South Bend, IN, with Rev. Glenn Kohrman officiating.  Military Honors will follow.
