Mary V. (Barrier) Watson

Mary V. Watson, 90, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 12:01 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at West Woods of Niles in Niles, MI, following an illness.

She was born on May 8, 1927 to the late Floyd A. and Myrtle I. (Jones) Barrier in Florence, Alabama, and has lived in South Bend, IN since 1937. Along with her parents; she was also preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Shaefer; and one brother, Ellis Barrier.

Mary worked at Uniroyal in Mishawaka, IN, where she made Uniroyal Fuel Cells for Airplanes. She retired after 38 years of employment.

On June 15, 1946, as Mary V. Barrier, she married Raymond E. Watson in the Rectory at Christ the King Parish in South Bend, IN. Raymond passed away on September 3, 2012.

Mary is survived by her two sons, Lawrence D. (Carole) Watson of Mishawaka, IN; Kenneth R. (Carol) Watson of Niles, MI; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sally Horstmann and Rose Holston.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, with Rev. Fran Lane-Lawrence officiating. Private entombment will take place at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
