We are saddened by Lloyd's passing but are fortunate for the time we spent with him. Hired back in the 90's at Kroger in LaPorte, little did we know how close one could become with their manager. Now don't get us wrong, he wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but either way he demanded respect. Lloyd definitely ran a "tight ship". He wasn't afraid of conflict and always faced it head on.

Life for Lloyd wasn't always about Kroger. If you took the time to talk to him and truly get to know him, you would quickly realize he loved a lot of things. He was a thinker, an observer, and most of all a go-get-er, and a do-er.

Lloyd was an excellent listener, and he gave honest and sound advice. He loved hearing about our daily lives and always wondered how we were. When Lloyd retired, we were lucky enough to continue our friendship. Phone calls, visits, and lunches were a great way to catch up. He always wanted to know about our family's (and that meant the world to us).

Visiting Lloyd the last few years was tough. It broke our hearts knowing what he was going through. He remained strong and kept his wits. He was still that intelligent, intellectual, individual we had come to love. We would spend hours reminiscing about the Kroger ways/days. It brought us all laughter and smiles. When we weren't chatting it up, we'd head downstairs for some live musical entertainment, or a few games of BINGO!!!

We are extremely thankful for all the good times, smiles, laughs and sound advice. Lloyd was one of a kind. He will be missed terribly. Rest Easy Boss❤️❤️

I worked for Lloyd at Kroger as a clerk, He then advised me to go into management. Each time I worked for him i was able to learn from him! I along with many other Krogerites can say " Lloyd Sandsmark ran a tight ship!" Had a lot of great times and laughs with him. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family!

Life brings tears, smiles, and memories. The tears dry, the smile fades, but the memories live on forever. With heartfelt sympathy.
