June E. Gerecke

  June E. Gerecke, 85, of New Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday October 17, 2017, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on November 22, 1931, in Galien, MI, to the late Noble and Pearl (Thorson) Swanson. On June 30, 1956, as June E. Swanson, she married John "Bill" Gerecke, who survives. Also surviving are her daughter, Jan (Thomas) Roesner, her son, Jay Gerecke and grandson, Ryan (Ashley) Weber, all of New Carlisle. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Eric Weber. June worked at Watson's Collectibles in New Carlisle as a clerk from 1948 to 1988. She was a graduate of New Carlisle High School and lived in the New Carlisle area all of her life. She was a member of the New Carlisle Community Church, loved making crafts, sewing and also enjoyed baking and flower gardening. Her family was above all and her pride and joy!. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. EST Friday October 20, 2017, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St., New Carlisle, where friends may visit for two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Carlisle Community Food Pantry.
