It was “for this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living” (Rom 14:9) and He “died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him” (1st Thess 5:10) and “since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep” (1st Thess 4:14). That includes all who have died in the faith and those who will be alive at His appearing; therefore, He truly is the Alpha and the Omega.
