Eugene L. Runyan

Eugene L. Runyan, 88, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, August 6, 2017 in Healthwin Specialized Care.  Eugene was born on January 6, 1929 in Colfax, Iowa to Henry and Edna (Mullihan) Runyan, and had lived in South Bend since 1950.  He retired from the Bendix Corporation in 1986.  He had also been the owner of the Alibi Inn on Western Avenue.  Eugene is survived by his wife, Marylou Runyan; his son, Tom (Isabelle) Runyan of Elkhart, Indiana; his daughter, Patricia Lynn Henson of South Bend, Indiana; one grandson, Christopher (Tonya) Runyan; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Madison, Sean, and Stephanie; one sister, Marilyn (David) Thornton of Iowa Falls, Iowa; and his niece Cheryl (Howard) Runyan-Brezinski of South Bend, Indiana.  He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Amanda Runyan-Fitzpatrick and Brian Runyan; two sisters,  Patty Ballard and Betty Partridge; and two brothers, Robert and John Runyan.   A Memorial Service will take place at 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive.  A visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.  Eugene served in the United States Navy Seabees during W.W. II.  He was a former member of the American Legion Post #284.  Eugene was a Ham Radio Operator and enjoyed dancing.  To send online condolences, please visit kaniewski.com
