Carol and I are deeply saddened by the news of Dave (Beu) passing. I was extremely fortunate to meet with a Beu and Dud for breakfast a few times this summer during my monthly visit to South Bend. He was, in many ways the same Beu from back in the day. Dave, being the consummate weisenheimer, was provoking cantankerous neighbors, complaining about the drivers on Sample Street, writing letters to the city, you know, Beu being Beu. We would often “side eye” one another as we would say something that would probably get others to react. Kindred spirits you might say. I’ve known Dave for so long I can’t pinpoint the date. He always had an opinion and offered it without hesitation. Candidly, as a fellow “wisenheimer”, I’ll miss that and really miss him. He was a genuine character, in the best sense of the word, and I really like characters.

Our sincere condolences to the Butiste family,

Stuart and Carol Levee

From our sandlot "lob ball" games at Navarre Park in the 60s to being neighbors in 2017, Dave was a fun guy to be around. God bless and Godspeed, big fella. Play 2 today.
