Darrell W. Dunlap, Jr., 78, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 in his home.  Darrell was born on April 11, 1939 in South Bend, Indiana to Darrell W. Dunlap, Sr. and Martha (Griman) Dunlap, and was an area lifelong resident.  He retired from Conrail. Darrell had also been employed with the South Bend Fire Department and AM General.  On August 29, 1971 he married Beverly J. Madaras, who survives.  He is also survived by one daughter, Deborah Dunlap of San Antonio, Texas;  eight sons, Michael Dunlap of Florida, John Dunlap of Texas, Stephen Dunlap of Texas, Eric (Christel) Dunlap of Germany, John Horvath of South Bend, Indiana, Nicholas (Jennifer) Horvath of South Bend, Indiana, Darrell Dunlap III of South Bend, Indiana, and Brian (Sheila) Dunlap of South Bend, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia (Paul) Turrell of Michigan; and many loved nieces and nephews.  Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Martha Dunlap; his son, Anthony Horvath; two sisters, Sandra and Kathleen; and one brother, Richard.  A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive.  A visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.  Darrell was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph High School, St. Joseph’s 1st graduating class.  He had attended Indiana University South Bend and served in the United States Army. Darrell was a Cubs and Notre Dame fan.  He enjoyed bowling and going to the Four Winds Casino.  Contributions may be directed to Kaniewski Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.  To send online condolences, please visit kaniewski.com
