Clarellen Mae Mitchell

Clarellen Mae Mitchell,88, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 5:10 a.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Hamilton Grove in New Carlisle, IN.

She was born on March 27, 1930 to the late Christian and Mildred (McCollough) in South Bend, IN.  Clarellen has lived in New Carlisle, IN for the last 26 years, coming from Three Oaks, MI, where she lived for 30 years.   Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Beard; and three brothers, Chuck Solloway; Bob Solloway; and Henry DeRouck.

As Clarellen Solloway, she married Paul Mitchell in 1949 in South Bend, IN.  He passed away on October 10, 1957.  Clarellen then married George Mitchell in 1959 at Maple Grove U.M.C. in New Carlisle, IN.  He passed away on March 4, 1989.

Clarellen is survived by three daughters, Peggy (David) Jandrisovits of Rolling Prairie, IN; Jennifer (Frank) Robinson of New Carlisle, IN; Susan (Scott) Phillippi of Atlanta, GA; two sons, Christian (Donna) Mitchell of Three Oaks, MI; Martin (Tammy) Mitchell of New Carlisle, IN; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great- grandchildren.

Clarellen was a member of Maple Grove U.M.C. in New Carlisle, IN, where she was active with the Prayer Group. She was also a member of the Traveling Light Book Club, and enjoyed flowers and gardening.  Clarellen loved her dog Molly, but most of all loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  The foundation of her life was her faith and love of the Lord.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. EDST on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Maple Grove U.M.C., 6655 E 1000 N, LaPorte County, New Carlisle, IN.

A Funeral Service and Celebration of Clarellen’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. EDST on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Maple Grove U.M.C. in New Carlisle, IN, with Pastor Deb Rousselle officiating.  Burial will follow at New Carlisle Cemetery in New Carlisle, IN.
