Carole J. Kent

Carole J. Kent was born on April 6, 1937 in South Bend, IN to George and Madalene (Smith) Swartz.  She was oldest of five children. 

She married her husband Richard on November 30, 1957 in Angola, IN and they had a wonderful marriage for almost 57 years until his passing on October 2, 2013.   Surviving are their children Kelly (Jim) Kent-Parcell and Curt (Sherry) Kent, Grandchildren:  Mike, Elizabeth, Andrew, Emily and Jacob and 9 great-grandchildren.  She loved spending time with her family and was always happiest with a little one in her arms. She is also survived by her sisters;  Susan (Bill) Brown, Linda (Ames) Templeton, brothers; Michael Swartz, Harold “Smitty” (Mary Ann) Swartz, her aunt Vivian  (Morrie) Yeargue,  her husband’s family in Ohio which was very dear to her,  many special cousins, nieces, nephews and her lifelong friend:  Suzanne Rickey.

Carole was a former Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed Fishing, Bowling, Knitting, Crocheting, reading and serving the Lord.  She was a member of Osceola United Methodist Church where she served on the Care Team Ministry. She loved to write and has sent many cards over the years to cheer others.

Carole worked for Associates as a Staff Assistant for 14 years.  After retirement she and her husband lived in Florida for 13 years where she was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and was an officer in the Women’s Association, AAL officer, Altar Guild, Women’s Serving Group, Visiting Social Ministry and was a Steven’s Minister.

A memorial visitation will be held from 9-11 am on Saturday April 7, 2018 in the Osceola United Methodist Church, 431 North Beech Road, Osceola, IN.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 in the same location.  Memorial donations may be made to Food Bank of Northern Indiana, 702 Chapin Street, South Bend, IN 46601.
