Betty Lou Chmielowiec

Betty Lou Chmielowiec, 86, of South Bend, Indiana passed away in her home on Friday, July 28, 2017. Betty was born on March 19, 1931 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Leonard and Goldie (Hutchinson) Hinkson. On January 29, 1949, she married Walter Chmielowiec, who preceded her in death on February 19, 2009. She is survived by one daughter, Amelia (Paul) Mailander of South Bend, Indiana; two grandchildren, Jessica Mailander of Washington, D.C. and Jennifer Mailander of Ravenswood, Illinois. Other survivors include one brother, Stephen Eslinger of Hawaii. Visitation for Betty will be on Saturday, August 5, 2017 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN 46628 from Noon until 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at later date in Pin Hook Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of donor’s choice in Betty’s honor.
