Agnes Josephine Thompson, 84, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away at 7:37 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 in her home.  Agnes was born on December 19, 1932 in New Carlisle, Indiana to Oliver and Bertha (Cheney) Proud.  She had lived in New Carlisle most of her life and had also resided in Texas for eleven years. Agnes retired from Miller’s Merry Manor, where she was employed in the Dietary Department for ten years.  On October 31, 1951 she married Herbert Glen Thompson who preceded her in death on February 5, 2017.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Mary Sipes; her sister, Anita Newton; and her brother, Oliver Proud.  Agnes is survived by two daughters, Diana (Rod) Staples of LaPorte, Indiana and Glenda (Doug) Tyler of Niles, Michigan; two sons,  Rick (Diana) Thompson of New Carlisle, Indiana and Ron (Michele) Thompson of LaPorte, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; five sisters, Lucille (Rich) Pyclik of Mishawaka, Indiana, Olga Neil of Valparaiso, Indiana, Mildred (Glen) Keller of Tennessee, Katherine (Chuck) Kinne of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Pamela Rhodes of Niles, Michigan; and four brothers, Franklin (Lois) Proud of Niles, Michigan, Daniel Proud of LaPorte, Indiana, Kenneth (Diane) Proud of South Bend, Indiana and Jerry Proud of Florida.  Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive.  A visitation will take place from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.  Agnes loved the outdoors and flowers.  She was an Elvis fan.  She enjoyed drawing, sketching, and baking.  Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
